FALL FORWARD FUNDRAISER
Friday, October 22, 2021
5:00 PM - 7:30 PM
Halsey Institute galleries + CofC President's House
Donate to the Fall Forward Fundraiser and help to support the Halsey Institute’s mission and programming for the Charleston community. Your donation enables us to serve the community at large by bringing world-class exhibitions and innovative programs for all ages and keeps admission free.
For every $100 you donate to the Fall Forward Fundraiser you will have the opportunity to RSVP for one of 50 tickets to a reception in your honor on Friday, October 22. Current COVID-related event policies for the College of Charleston limit us to 50 attendees for on-campus events. Donate today and join us for an exclusive evening toasting to the future of the Halsey Institute with the College of Charleston president.
2 of the 50 available spaces at the reception remain as of 10/21/21.
Update on 9/28/21: Due to the high number of COVID-19 cases and the highly contagious Delta variant, we will no longer be able to offer house tours or the opportunity to explore the President’s home on your own.
Are you unable to attend an event on October 22? Would you rather celebrate your donation to the Halsey Institute on your couch while you enjoy our award-winning publications and artist videos? You can still donate to the Fall Forward Fundraiser! Support in any amount is appreciated and celebrated.
To donate by phone, call Julia Hammer at the College of Charleston Foundation at (843) 953-5113.
To donate by check, RSVP to halseyRSVP@cofc.edu if you would like to attend the October 22 reception then mail your check to:
Halsey Institute of Contemporary Art

161 Calhoun Street
Charleston, SC 29401
At the reception on October 22, guests will experience a tour of our current exhibition Namsa Leuba: Crossed Looks and a champagne toast to the Halsey Institute by the College of Charleston President at his historic residence on campus. Space is limited to the first 50 RSVPs.
Join the Halsey Institute staff for an intimate tour of the Crossed Looks exhibition, then enjoy the garden of the College of Charleston President’s Home, the historic Bishop Robert Smith House, on Glebe Street. We’ll have a champagne toast to the Halsey Institute’s future in the garden with CofC President Dr. Andrew Hsu.
Crossed Looks is the first solo exhibition in the United States of Swiss-Guinean artist Namsa Leuba. The show features over 90 works from the photographer’s projects in Guinea, South Africa, Nigeria, and Benin, and it premieres new work created in Tahiti.
The oldest building on the College of Charleston campus, the President’s House, was the site for our school’s first classes. Today this handsome Georgian mansion with the garden around it serves as the President’s House; it was also the home of the College’s first president over 200 years ago.
Please note: Face masks are required by all persons on campus regardless of vaccination status. Indoor events on campus are limited to a maximum of 50 individuals. The Halsey Institute staff and the College of Charleston are monitoring local COVID case numbers and will make updates to event policies if needed. In the event that changes to the reception are necessary, all RSVPs will be notified by email.
