Because of the College’s COVID-19 precautions, we must all work together to ensure there is not a crowd in the Hill Gallery on Submission Day. You must fill out an artwork submission label for each artwork submitted AND the Conditions for Submitting contract PRIOR to dropping off your artwork. You can either pick these items up from the Studio Art Dept. office (4th floor, Simons Center) or you can download and print them yourself here:

SUBMISSION DAY
Monday, March 8, 10:00 AM – 7:00 PM
Works must be dropped off at the Halsey Institute (first floor of the Cato Center for the Arts, 161 Calhoun Street) during this time. Bring any artwork you want to submit to the galleries along with your completed labels and contract.
WHO IS ELIGIBLE?
College of Charleston Fall 2020 semester/Spring 2021 semester students including December 2020 graduates. Students of all majors and minors are encouraged to submit artwork.
There is no cost to submit your artwork.
HOW TO SUBMIT YOUR ARTWORK
Original artwork completed between April 2020 – March 2021. Students may submit up to three pieces per artist, per medium (prints, sculptures, photographs, etc.).
Fill out an artwork submission label legibly and attach one to the back of EVERY artwork you want to submit before bringing them to the Halsey Institute. You can either obtain labels from the Studio Art Office (Simons Center, 4th Floor) or by downloading some here.
Indicate on the label if there are any special installation instructions.
Bring your completed and signed Conditions for Submitting contract. You can either obtain this contract from the Studio Art Office (Simons Center, 4th Floor) or by downloading it here.
Video works and oversized work must also be registered on March 8, even if it will be delivered later. Bring an artwork submission label for your video work on Submission Day and email a file to GrangerBW@cofc.edu. Indicate on the submission label if you have oversized work, where it is located, and attach a picture or photocopy of it when you bring the submission label to Submission Day.

EXHIBITION DATES

The Halsey Institute galleries will be open to the public for Young Contemporaries 2021 during these dates. Gallery hours are 11:00 AM – 4:00 PM on Tuesday, Wednesdays, and Fridays, 11:00 AM – 7:00 PM on Thursdays. Closed on Sundays, Mondays, and Saturdays.
In accordance with the College of Charleston’s COVID-19 precautions, all gallery visitors and Halsey Institute staff will be required to wear a cloth face covering while on the College of Charleston campus, including inside the Halsey Institute’s galleries. The staff member at the reception desk will welcome guests from behind a Plexiglas barrier. There will be a maximum of 10 visitors inside the gallery spaces at any one time. We ask that visitors remain six feet away from others.
ARTWORK PICK UP DAY
Monday, April 26, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
If you are not able to pick up your artwork on this day, you will need to arrange for a friend to do it for you. The Halsey Institute CANNOT store your artwork.
