Q&A with the director, Sam Wainwright Douglas to follow

Citizen Architect: Samuel Mockbee and the Spirit of the Rural Studio is a documentary film about the late architect, artist and educator, Samuel Mockbee and the radical educational design/build program known as the Rural Studio. Located in Hale County, Alabama, home to some of the most impoverished communities in the United States, the Rural Studio program has repurposed materials and energy efficient appliances to build sustainable homes for its disadvantaged neighbors. Citizen Architect explores Samuel Mockbee’s effort to provide students with an experience that forever inspires them to consider how they can use their skills for the betterment their communities. Revealing the philosophy and heart behind the Rural Studio, the documentary is guided by passionate, frank and never-before-seen interviews with Mockbee himself.—from Citizen Architect Website
The event is free and open to the public.
